Terms of Service

Why Me! is a verified professional reputation platform. People you invite describe what it was actually like to work with you. It is not a social network, a job board, a directory, or an anonymous rating site.

We do not write, generate, estimate, or seed reputation content. Everything published on a profile was written by a real person who confirmed their email and their working relationship.

You must provide accurate information, keep your credentials secure, and use the platform only for yourself. You may not create a profile for another person, impersonate anyone, or invite reviewers on someone else's behalf.

Profiles are Private by default. You control whether your profile is Draft, Private, Public, or Deactivated. You may permanently delete your account at any time from your dashboard.

You may invite people who genuinely worked with you. You may not offer payment, imply reciprocity, pressure a reviewer, or request a positive review. Invitations are private, expire, and are limited in how often they may be resent.

A reviewer owns their Perspective. Reviewers may correct or withdraw a Perspective at any time, permanently, through Manage My Perspective. A withdrawn Perspective is never republished.

A profile owner may never preview, edit, reword, hide, reorder, or selectively suppress a legitimate Perspective. Owners see status only until a Perspective publishes.

A submitted, eligible Perspective publishes 72 hours after submission. The owner may waive the remainder of that wait to publish sooner, and may do nothing else: waiving does not allow reading, editing, or stopping the Perspective. Safety and policy holds pause publication independently.

You may not submit unlawful, harassing, discriminatory, defamatory, or knowingly false content; disclose confidential or personal information about third parties; scrape the service; attempt to circumvent verification; or interfere with the platform's operation.

You keep ownership of what you write. You grant us a non-exclusive licence to host, store and display it as required to operate Why Me! consistent with your published settings and the reviewer controls above. We may remove content that violates these Terms.

Permanently deleting your account removes your Why Me! account, public profile, profile information, Perspectives, outstanding requests and account history from active use. Your public profile link stops working, pending invitations are cancelled, and their links stop working. This cannot be undone.

We may retain minimal nonpublic records only where genuinely necessary for security, fraud prevention, legal obligations, or system integrity. Routine encrypted infrastructure backups age out on their normal retention schedule; we do not selectively rewrite them.

Why Me! is provided “as is.” We verify what we say we verify — email control, and relationship evidence at the level shown on each Perspective — and nothing more. We do not guarantee the accuracy, completeness, or fairness of any opinion a reviewer expresses, and we do not endorse anyone.

To the fullest extent permitted by law, Lessard Venture Lab LLC is not liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or for lost profits, data, or opportunities arising out of your use of Why Me!.

You may stop using Why Me! at any time. We may suspend or terminate access for a violation of these Terms, for a safety or legal reason, or where required to protect reviewers.

These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Wisconsin, without regard to its conflict-of-law rules. Disputes will be resolved in the state or federal courts located in Wisconsin, and you consent to their jurisdiction.

We may update these Terms. Material changes will be reflected by a new effective date, and continued use after that date means you accept the updated Terms.
